Free First Sunday of Advent Coloring Page

This season of Advent, I’m spending a little extra time with the second readings for each Sunday. These scripture passages are from Saint Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians, Philippians, and the Hebrews. As the calendar year comes to a close and the liturgical year begins anew, his words of encouragement, advice, and instruction seem to be just what I need to prepare my heart to be a warm place for Christ to dwell.

This coloring page features a passage from 1 Thes 3:12-4:2

Brothers and sisters:
May the Lord make you increase and abound in love
for one another and for all,

just as we have for you,
so as to strengthen your hearts,
to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father
at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones.  Amen.

Finally, brothers and sisters,
we earnestly ask and exhort you in the Lord Jesus that,
as you received from us
how you should conduct yourselves to please God
and as you are conducting yourselves
you do so even more.
For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

Use this printable page to pray as you color. You might light an Advent candle and listen to a peaceful playlist. You might also reflect on these questions:

  1. How is the Lord present in my life right now? Where do I see His goodness or feel his consolation?

  2. Do I believe He’s coming? How does that belief affect my daily life?

  3. What do I need to let go of (sin, bad habits, false beliefs about myself, others, or God) to live more in line with God’s calling for me?
